Did you know?

Look at all the detail in these pieces!    Okay.... so I didn't get it when I first got introduced to Sara Blaine jewelry!   Did you know that each piece is hand crafted.... (Yes... crafted by artisans and made by hand)

As someone who appreciates ART and DESIGN I appreciate the creativity it took to create the concept for these pieces.... and the hand work that it takes to literally make each piece from hand!   It's crazy!

The use of solid metals like brass and bronze and silver to the hand cut stones and the detailed chain, you'll really be amazed!

Until I started selling Sara Blaine Jewelry with Willow House, I thought jewelry was jewelry.   I did know the difference between FINE jewelry and Costume jewelry but I really didn't get "designer" although if someone said something to me...I probably could have figured it out.

I guess I am somewhat of a jewelry snob now.... Which I didn't intend to be but it happened because I kept picking up jewelry in stores and noticing the components were lightweight metals, plastics, or glass... and people were charging a lot for it!

I just had to share all this because I didn't know what I was selling when I was first introduced to it.... and now, I am IN LOVE with it!    Wearing the right pieces of jewelry can totally finish a look.    Coming from an interior design background, I will relate this to window treatments.    The window obviously needs to be finished to complete the room decor but window treatments come in many forms.   You can cover a window with curtains from the local Walmart or Target or you can dress a window with something a little better.... something from Bed Bath and Beyond or even Pottery Barn... or you can choose some fabrics and have someone make treatments for your windows.    Obviously, custom - handmade window treatments are the high end and they truly make a room look rich!

Wearing nicely made jewelry can do the same thing for you!  You will feel finished and people will notice what you are wearing,  not just that you are wearing jewelry,  but they will actually compliment you on it!   So, whether you like to dress for the occasion or you want to dress for success, you'll appreciate wearing beautiful timeless jewelry!

I'm just giddy about it and I wanted to share my journey of discovery with you.  When I am passionate about something... I have to tell everyone! :)

How To Stretch Your Wardrobe

Okay.... so I am old enough to start seeing some trends come back.... OMG!  I just saw shoulder pads coming back in style!    I'm just waiting for the stirrup pants to come back in. :)    I have watched Neon and printed pants come back in.... mint and peach and now we are back to jewel tones!  It's so funny to see really.   I am now "old enough" to see this happen but I'll just call it WISDOM!

At the end of the day, I've learned to get GREAT well made pants that fit you because they are a staple!    Yes, they change the style from time to time.... narrow leg, wide leg, low rise, high rise... but today, it seems as if everything goes!   Get a great boot cut or wide cut legged pant and a great narrow one and you are good to go!  (don't forget your leggings...or jeggings)   Get your basic black, brown, white and khaki and if you love to wear something like Navy or camel.. .go for it!

Tops -  Figure out the neckline you look best in.  I like scoop neck, V-neck best,  crew/jewel and sometimes a boat neck BUT you have to figure out what looks best on YOU!   Don't deviate from what looks best on you!

Colors are important!   What colors look best on you?   Do jewel tones, pastels, white or off white look better on you?    If you can't figure it out... ask me or a friend!  It does make a difference!   For example... I don't look good in a bluish red but I look much better in an orange red.   I look great in a salmon or warm pinkish orange but not as good in a purple-toned fushia.   I definitely look better in WARMER tones.    If you do too, you will tend to look better in warmer whites than stark whites.   Some people (usually brunettes with darker skin tone) look fabulous in the jewel tones... the rich saturated colors.  Get basics that you can wear in these colors!

Accessorize:   Okay.. so I'm going to show you an example of how a T-shirt can be turned into something FABULOUS by simply adding the right accessories!  And actually, I'll show you how the right accessories can help you with a color that may not be "perfect" for you.

This is Literally a nice t-shirt I got on sale this Spring at Ann Taylor.   It's a little more on the fushia side although it is not too purple.   It's a color that is on the edge for me.   The most fun thing is that since I look better in the warmer tones, the necklace I put with this really helped pull it all together.   Accessories can do that.    This t-shirt could be worn with shorts or jeans or dressy pants but look what the right accessories will do for it!    It's so fun!    You can update with a FEW trendy pieces each season to boost your wardrobe but stay true to the basics!   You'll save money in the long run and you'll stretch your wardrobe.

Don't buy colors that are ON trend that don't look good on you!    I've been there done that and those articles of clothing will hang in your closet without being worn.   You'll try to force them to work and they won't.  Don't even bother! :)

Enjoy your FALL shopping!
